It’s Legit In Texas-Day 2

It’s day 2 of “It’s Legit In Texas”. Today we get the scoop from Grant. Please take out some pen and paper, it’s time to take some notes.

Name: Grant Weldon Jackson
Occupation: Renaissance man
Website: N/A

1. What are you looking forward to wearing in the Spring?

I am very ready to get out of the bulk and sweaters and back in to into t-shirts and polo shirts. Bright colors especially orange and yellow are looking really cool mixed with cool greys this spring. Bring on the warm weather.

2. What is your favorite item in your closet?

Ralph Lauren Purple Label Cashmere V-Neck Sweaters. A true classic. I wear these sweaters everywhere, even known to sleep in these in the winter. Exceptionally soft and extremely reliable to be great looking with everything from athletic shorts to a suit. A solid investment piece.

3. It’s Saturday night and you’re out, where are you in your city? What are you wearing?

Typical Saturday night starts with a great dinner at one of Dallas’s amazing restaurants. Ideally in the uptown area of Dallas at Fearing’s or Hibiscus followed by after dinner cocktails at The Mansion on Turtle Creek. They have the best bar in town. The Mansion Bar is dark and old school with the best music on the weekends. For a more low key Saturday night, I am a huge fan of Bolsa in the Bishop Arts district. Bolsa has great fresh and local organic food served in a cool eclectic interior, not to mention the strong drinks from the bar. I am typically wearing dark skinny jeans with a tailored jacket or cardigan.

4. What do you feel the look of your city is?

Dallas has a pretty interesting mix of styles, like anywhere it has a group of people that are extremely current and some who caught on a little late. I typically like to err on the side of classic conservative. My favorite style in Dallas is the understated luxury look. I like when someone looks really well put together but is not trying to hard. I think the key to this look is that you can’t dress in designer head to toe but rather mix great designer or luxury pieces with less expensive basics. To me it keeps a look from looking too formulated.

5. Item you have your eye on?

I definitely have my eye on a vintage gold Rolex Yacht-Master. I think big gold watches are so cool right now, especially when you dress it down with jeans and a t-shirt.

Roll on Grant, Roll on

6. Favorite place to shop in your city?

Dallas has incredible shopping. From the giants like Neiman Marcus and Barneys to the great boutique retail stores such as Billy Reid and Ralph Lauren I can pretty much find everything I need.
